Our Chicago hub serves as the nerve center for 500+ daily shipments connecting manufacturing plants, distribution centers, and last-mile delivery networks. You'll lead a cross-functional team of 25+ professionals while implementing cutting-edge TMS technologies to enhance route efficiency and reduce carbon footprint.
Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end transportation operations including freight brokerage, LTL/FTL coordination, and intermodal shipments
- Develop data-driven routing strategies reducing transit times by 15%+ through AI-powered analytics
- Manage fleet deployment and 3PL partnerships with 25+ carriers nationwide
- Implement cost-saving initiatives targeting $2M+ annual operational improvements
- Ensure DOT/FMCSA compliance across 50+ commercial vehicles
- Lead crisis management for weather/emergency disruptions
- Mentor transportation analysts using KPI dashboards (on-time delivery, cost per mile)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or Business Administration
- 8+ years progressive transportation management experience with multi-modal operations
- Proven track record optimizing LTL/FTL networks in urban environments
- Advanced proficiency in TMS platforms (Manhattan, Oracle, or Blue Yonder)
- Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) or CPIM designation preferred
- Expert knowledge of Chicago-area transportation infrastructure and regulations
- Strong financial acumen for budget management and cost analysis
- Exceptional stakeholder management skills across carrier and client networks
