Responsibilities
- Oversee daily transportation operations including fleet deployment, route optimization, and driver management
- Develop and execute multi-modal logistics strategies for regional distribution networks
- Analyze transportation data to identify cost-saving opportunities and performance improvements
- Ensure compliance with FMCSA regulations and maintain safety certifications
- Manage vendor relationships and negotiate contracts with carriers and third-party logistics providers
- Lead cross-functional projects implementing telematics and fleet management systems
- Mentor transportation staff through performance development and training programs
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years progressive experience in transportation management with multi-modal operations
- Proven expertise in fleet optimization and route planning technologies
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in logistics software (TMW, Descartes, etc.)
- Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) or equivalent designation
- Demonstrated success in managing union and non-union transportation teams
- Advanced knowledge of DOT regulations and compliance requirements
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities with data-driven decision-making experience
