Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end transportation operations including freight routing, carrier selection, and shipment tracking
- Implement and maintain logistics optimization strategies to reduce costs and improve delivery times
- Manage relationships with key transportation partners and negotiate contracts with carriers
- Monitor KPIs such as on-time delivery rates, transportation costs, and inventory turnover
- Lead cross-functional teams to resolve logistics challenges and ensure operational continuity
- Develop and maintain transportation budgets with rigorous cost control measures
- Ensure compliance with federal and state transportation regulations (FMCSA, DOT)
- Drive sustainability initiatives through route optimization and eco-friendly carrier partnerships
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Business, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in transportation logistics with 2+ years in management
- Expert knowledge of TMS (Transportation Management Systems) and logistics software
- Strong analytical skills with experience in data-driven decision making
- Proven track record of reducing transportation costs by 15% or more
- Certification in Supply Chain Management (CSCP, CPIM) or Transportation (CTL) preferred
- Excellent negotiation and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to thrive in fast-paced environments with competing priorities
