Responsibilities
- Lead and mentor a team of 10+ underwriters, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.
- Oversee the strategic management of a $500M+ P&C portfolio, ensuring alignment with corporate profitability goals.
- Develop and refine underwriting guidelines and risk appetite statements for complex commercial lines.
- Collaborate with Data Science teams to integrate predictive modeling and AI into the underwriting workflow.
- Act as the final point of authority for high-limit and high-complexity risk accounts.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key national brokerage partners and stakeholders.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, or a related field (Master’s or CPCU designation preferred).
- 8+ years of progressive experience in commercial underwriting with a focus on P&C.
- Proven track record of managing and developing high-performing technical teams.
- Deep understanding of state-specific regulatory requirements and filing processes.
- Exceptional analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable risk strategies.
- Advanced proficiency in modern underwriting software and CRM platforms.
