Responsibilities
- Review and underwrite complex insurance applications to ensure alignment with company risk appetite and pricing strategy.
- Analyze market trends and competitor pricing strategies to optimize underwriting guidelines and maintain profitability.
- Manage a diverse portfolio of accounts, maintaining high retention rates and fostering strong relationships with brokers.
- Liaise directly with brokers and intermediaries to provide expert advice, negotiate terms, and resolve complex issues.
- Develop and mentor junior underwriters, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and technical excellence.
- Utilize advanced underwriting software and data analytics tools to drive data-driven decision-making.
- Monitor regulatory changes and ensure all underwriting practices comply with UK and FCA guidelines.
Qualifications
- Certified by the CII (e.g., Advanced Diploma in Insurance) or equivalent professional qualification.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in Commercial Lines underwriting (Property, Casualty, or Liability).
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and assess risk accurately.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills, capable of influencing brokers and clients.
- Deep understanding of UK insurance market dynamics and regulatory frameworks.
