Responsibilities
- Oversee and optimize daily transportation operations, ensuring cost-effectiveness, on-time delivery, and adherence to service level agreements.
- Lead, mentor, and develop a team of dispatchers, planners, and logistics coordinators, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and high performance.
- Develop and implement strategic plans for route optimization, fleet utilization, and carrier management to enhance efficiency and reduce operational costs.
- Ensure full compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations, including DOT, HOS, and safety standards.
- Negotiate and manage relationships with third-party logistics providers (3PLs) and carriers to secure favorable rates and service levels.
- Utilize advanced data analytics and logistics software (TMS) to identify trends, predict challenges, and implement proactive solutions.
- Manage the transportation department budget, monitoring expenditures and identifying opportunities for financial optimization.
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives in safety protocols, operational processes, and technology adoption to enhance overall supply chain performance.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
- Minimum of 7+ years of progressive experience in transportation operations management, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Demonstrated expertise in freight management systems (TMS) and other logistics software.
- In-depth knowledge of DOT regulations, HOS compliance, and industry best practices for safety and efficiency.
- Exceptional analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with a data-driven approach.
- Proven ability to lead, motivate, and develop a diverse team in a demanding environment.
- Excellent negotiation, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
- PMP or CSCP certification is a significant plus.
