Responsibilities
- Oversee end-to-end transportation operations including freight brokerage, fleet management, and route optimization
- Develop and implement data-driven logistics strategies to reduce operational costs by 15-20%
- Manage relationships with 3PL providers, carriers, and key stakeholders to ensure service excellence
- Lead cross-functional teams to streamline warehouse-to-delivery processes
- Analyze transportation KPIs using advanced analytics tools to drive continuous improvement
- Ensure compliance with FMCSA, DOT, and international transportation regulations
- Drive sustainability initiatives through green logistics practices and carbon footprint reduction
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, or related field (Master's preferred)
- Minimum 8 years progressive experience in transportation/logistics management
- Proven expertise in TMS/WMS platforms (SAP, Oracle, or comparable systems)
- Certified Transportation Professional (CTP) or APICS CSCP designation required
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex logistics data
- Experience managing multimodal transportation networks (rail, air, ocean, truck)
- Exceptional leadership abilities with demonstrated team development success
- Deep understanding of Chicago's transportation infrastructure and Midwest logistics corridors
