Responsibilities
- Prepare & Review Returns: Oversee the preparation and review of federal, state, and local corporate income tax returns, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Compliance Management: Monitor changes in tax laws and ensure the organization remains fully compliant with IRS regulations and state statutes.
- Audit Support: Serve as the primary liaison during external audits, providing documentation and explanations to auditors to ensure a smooth process.
- Tax Planning: Identify tax-saving opportunities and implement efficient strategies to minimize liability while adhering to legal requirements.
- Calendar Management: Maintain strict adherence to the corporate tax calendar, managing estimated tax payments, extensions, and FUTA/SUTA filings.
- Team Leadership: Mentor junior staff, conduct training sessions on tax procedures, and foster a culture of accuracy and excellence.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance; Master’s degree (MSA) is highly preferred.
- Licensure: Must hold a valid CPA or EA certification.
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in corporate tax preparation and financial reporting.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in tax software (e.g., Drake, UltraTax, or CCH ProSystem fx) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
- Knowledge: Deep understanding of GAAP, ASC 740, and current tax code regulations.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to explain complex tax concepts to stakeholders.
