Apex Global is seeking a Senior Purchasing Manager to spearhead our procurement operations in Chicago. In this role, you will lead high-stakes contract negotiations, optimize our global supply chain, and implement cutting-edge procurement technologies to drive bottom-line growth.
You will work directly with executive leadership to define procurement strategy, mitigate supply chain risks, and foster long-term relationships with key vendors worldwide.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute comprehensive procurement strategies that reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) by 15% annually.
- Lead end-to-end contract negotiations with global suppliers, ensuring high service levels and favorable payment terms.
- Analyze market trends and price volatility to proactively hedge against supply chain disruptions.
- Oversee the supplier relationship management (SRM) program to ensure performance, compliance, and quality standards are met.
- Drive cross-functional collaboration with engineering, finance, and operations teams to optimize inventory levels and purchasing workflows.
- Manage the procurement budget, tracking KPIs and reporting performance metrics to the executive committee.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business, Finance, or a related field (MBA preferred).
- Minimum of 7-10 years of experience in strategic sourcing, purchasing, or supply chain management within a manufacturing environment.
- Proven track record of managing high-value contracts and large-scale supplier negotiations.
- Expert-level proficiency in ERP systems (SAP, Oracle, or NetSuite) and advanced data analytics tools (Tableau, PowerBI).
- Strong leadership skills with the ability to influence stakeholders at all levels of the organization.
- Professional certification such as CPSM (Certified Professional in Supply Management) or APICS/CSCP is highly desirable.
