Job Description

Are you a visionary architect ready to shape the skyline of one of the world's greatest architectural hubs? Apex Design Partners is seeking a highly skilled and passionate Senior Project Architect to join our award-winning studio in Chicago. In this role, you will lead high-profile commercial, residential, and mixed-use projects from initial concept through construction administration.

We offer a collaborative, design-forward culture that values sustainability, innovation, and technical excellence. You will work alongside industry-leading designers, engineers, and clients to bring landmark structures to life. If you possess a sharp eye for detail, masterly command of BIM technologies, and a proven track record of delivering complex projects, we want to hear from you.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the architectural design and technical execution of large-scale commercial and mixed-use projects from concept design through to project closeout.
  • Coordinate seamlessly with structural, MEP, and civil engineering consultants to ensure fully integrated building systems.
  • Supervise the production of comprehensive construction documents, specifications, and highly detailed construction drawings.
  • Navigate and resolve complex zoning laws, building codes, and municipal approval processes for urban developments.
  • Mentor, guide, and inspire junior and intermediate architectural designers, fostering a culture of professional growth and design excellence.
  • Manage key client relationships, presenting design concepts, progress milestones, and budget alignment strategies.

Qualifications

  • Professional Degree in Architecture (B.Arch or M.Arch) from an NAAB-accredited institution.
  • Active Registered Architect (RA) license in the State of Illinois, or eligibility for reciprocal licensure. NCARB certification is highly preferred.
  • A minimum of 8 years of progressive post-graduate experience in a professional architectural firm, with a strong portfolio of completed projects.
  • Advanced, expert-level proficiency in Autodesk Revit and BIM workflows, along with AutoCAD and SketchUp.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of Chicago building codes, IBC, ADA regulations, and sustainable design standards (LEED AP credential is a strong plus).
  • Exceptional verbal, written, and graphic communication skills, with the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams.
