The Role:
In this pivotal role, you will oversee the planning, buying, and assortment strategies for our flagship stores and e-commerce channels. You will leverage data analytics to optimize inventory levels, maximize profitability, and ensure we are delivering the right products to our customers at the right time.
Responsibilities
- Strategic Planning: Develop and execute comprehensive merchandising strategies that align with company goals and market trends.
- Inventory Management: Analyze sales data, market demand, and seasonal trends to optimize inventory turnover and minimize stockouts.
- Assortment Development: Create compelling product assortments that resonate with our target demographic and drive sales conversion.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with the Design and Sourcing teams to ensure product viability and timely delivery.
- Performance Analysis: Monitor KPIs such as sell-through rates, gross margin, and inventory turns, providing actionable insights to leadership.
- Vendor Relations: Manage relationships with key suppliers and negotiate terms to ensure quality and cost-efficiency.
- Visual Merchandising Support: Partner with the VM team to ensure in-store presentation supports sales objectives.
Qualifications
- Experience: 5+ years of experience in retail merchandising, buying, or product management, preferably within the fashion or lifestyle sector.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Fashion Merchandising, or a related field is required.
- Analytical Skills: Proficiency in using merchandising software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, JDA) and advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUP).
- Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of current fashion trends and consumer behavior in the New York metropolitan area.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present complex data to stakeholders.
- Leadership: Proven track record of leading teams and managing projects in a fast-paced retail environment.
- Flexibility: Willingness to travel to retail locations and attend trade shows as needed.
