Are you a data-driven visionary with a passion for high-fashion retail? Luminary Retail Group is seeking a Senior Merchandise Planner to join our flagship team in New York. You will be responsible for balancing art and science to optimize inventory performance, maximize gross margin, and elevate the customer shopping experience across our omnichannel footprint.
In this role, you will lead the strategic planning process, partnering closely with buying and supply chain teams to ensure our product assortments meet the demands of a fast-paced market.
Responsibilities
- Develop and execute seasonal merchandise financial plans to meet sales, margin, and inventory goals.
- Partner with the buying team to build balanced, trend-right assortments that align with historical data and future forecasts.
- Manage open-to-buy (OTB) processes, providing monthly updates on sales trends and inventory liabilities.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and provide actionable insights to drive store and e-commerce profitability.
- Analyze weekly sell-through data to recommend reorders, markdowns, and promotional strategies.
- Lead cross-functional collaboration with logistics and visual merchandising to ensure optimal stock levels.
- Mentor junior analysts on forecasting methodologies and retail math best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Economics, or related field.
- Minimum 5+ years of experience in retail merchandise planning or allocation.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and retail planning software (e.g., Oracle Retail, JDA/Blue Yonder).
- Deep understanding of retail math, inventory turnover, and profitability levers.
- Strong analytical mindset with the ability to translate complex data into business strategy.
- Exceptional communication skills to present findings to executive leadership.
- Proven track record of managing inventory in a high-volume omnichannel environment.
