Responsibilities
- Perform Complex Testing: Execute a wide variety of laboratory tests including hematology, chemistry, immunology, and microbiology with high accuracy and efficiency.
- Equipment Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and calibration of laboratory instrumentation to ensure optimal performance and compliance with manufacturer specifications.
- Quality Assurance: Monitor quality control procedures and participate in proficiency testing to ensure all lab results meet regulatory standards (CLIA, CAP).
- Collaborative Care: Communicate critical results to physicians and nursing staff promptly, serving as a key liaison between the lab and clinical teams.
- Sample Management: Ensure proper labeling, tracking, and storage of all biological specimens to maintain chain of custody and integrity.
- Staff Mentorship: Mentor junior technologists and students, providing guidance on complex procedures and best practices in laboratory safety.
Qualifications
- Certification: ASCP (American Society for Clinical Pathology) certification or equivalent (MLT/MT) is required.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related scientific field.
- Experience: Minimum of 3-5 years of hands-on experience in a clinical laboratory setting.
- Technical Skills: Proficient in operating automated analyzers and manual laboratory techniques.
- Attention to Detail: Exceptional ability to maintain precision and attention to detail in high-volume environments.
- Regulatory Knowledge: Deep understanding of HIPAA compliance and laboratory safety regulations.
- Soft Skills: Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
