Job Description
Are you ready to engineer the future of automation?
Apex Innovations is a cutting-edge technology firm pioneering the next generation of autonomous systems and consumer robotics. We are looking for a Senior Mechanical Engineer who combines deep technical expertise with creative problem-solving skills to design robust, scalable hardware solutions.
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for leading the mechanical design lifecycle of our flagship products. You will work in a dynamic, agile environment alongside world-class electrical, software, and industrial design teams. If you thrive on the challenge of turning complex concepts into tangible, mass-producible products, we want to hear from you.
Why join Apex Innovations?
- Competitive compensation and comprehensive benefits package.
- Opportunity to work on patented, ground-breaking technology.
- Flexible remote-first culture with a modern San Francisco office hub.
- Continuous learning budget and professional development opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end mechanical design process, from concept ideation and system architecture to detailed design, prototyping, and mass production.
- Utilize advanced CAD tools (SolidWorks, Creo, or CATIA) to create high-fidelity 3D models, 2D drawings, and BOMs, adhering to strict GD&T standards.
- Perform and interpret Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) to validate structural integrity, thermal performance, and fatigue resistance.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with electrical engineers to ensure seamless integration of mechanical and electronic subsystems.
- Manage the prototyping process, including selecting appropriate materials (composites, metals, plastics) and manufacturing methods (CNC, injection molding, 3D printing).
- Identify potential manufacturing risks and drive design for manufacturability (DFM) and assembly (DFA) improvements.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on complex mechanical challenges.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of professional experience in mechanical design, preferably within the robotics, consumer electronics, or hardware tech industry.
- Proven proficiency in CAD software with a strong command of geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience with rapid prototyping tools (e.g., 3D printing, laser cutting) and understanding of manufacturing processes (CNC machining, injection molding).
- Familiarity with FEA tools (ANSYS, Abaqus, or similar) for stress and thermal analysis.
- Strong project management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced, agile environment.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
