Responsibilities
- Lead Design Lifecycle: Own the end-to-end mechanical design process from concept sketches and 3D modeling to detailed engineering drawings and production-ready specifications.
- CAD Modeling: Utilize advanced CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Creo) to create high-fidelity 3D models and 2D assembly drawings.
- Analysis & Testing: Conduct rigorous stress analysis, finite element analysis (FEA), and thermal analysis to ensure product durability and reliability.
- Prototyping: Collaborate with fabrication teams to develop functional prototypes and oversee bench testing to validate design performance.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with electrical engineers, software developers, and product managers to integrate mechanical components into larger systems.
- Technical Documentation: Prepare comprehensive technical reports, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and engineering specifications for manufacturing partners.
- Mentorship: Guide junior engineers and provide technical mentorship to foster a culture of continuous improvement.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree preferred).
- Experience: 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design, product development, or industrial engineering.
- Software Proficiency: Expert level proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or other CAD/CAM software.
- Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), manufacturing processes (CNC, injection molding), and material properties.
- Problem Solving: Demonstrated ability to troubleshoot complex engineering problems and implement effective solutions.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Tools: Experience with FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus) is a plus.
