Responsibilities
- Lead Mechanical Design: Spearhead the design and development of complex mechanical systems and components using SolidWorks and AutoCAD.
- Prototyping & Testing: oversee the prototyping process, conduct rigorous testing, and iterate designs based on performance data and feedback.
- Material Selection: Analyze material properties and manufacturing processes to select the optimal components for durability and cost-efficiency.
- Documentation: Create detailed engineering drawings, BOMs (Bill of Materials), and technical specifications for manufacturing teams.
- Compliance: Ensure all designs meet relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and quality control measures (GD&T).
- Mentorship: Guide and mentor junior engineers and interns, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent) required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing or R&D environment.
- Software Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, and FEA analysis tools (ANSYS, Abaqus).
- Manufacturing Knowledge: Deep understanding of manufacturing processes including CNC machining, injection molding, and 3D printing.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex engineering challenges.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
