Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end design lifecycle of mechanical systems for electric vehicle powertrains using SolidWorks and NX
- Conduct finite element analysis (FEA) and thermal modeling to optimize component performance under extreme conditions
- Develop comprehensive test protocols for validation of mechanical subsystems (battery enclosures, cooling systems, drivetrains)
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (electrical, software, manufacturing) to ensure seamless integration
- Generate detailed technical documentation including GD&T drawings, BOMs, and DFMEA reports
- Mentor junior engineers and conduct design reviews to maintain quality standards
- Research emerging materials and manufacturing techniques to enhance durability and reduce weight
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (MS preferred) from ABET-accredited institution
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical design for automotive or heavy machinery
- Expert proficiency in CAD/CAE tools (SolidWorks, ANSYS, Abaqus)
- Deep understanding of GD&T, tolerance analysis, and manufacturing processes
- Proven track record of leading complex mechanical projects from concept to production
- Strong analytical skills with ability to troubleshoot multi-physics problems
- Professional Engineer (PE) license preferred
- Experience with electric vehicle systems or battery thermal management highly desirable
