Responsibilities
- Lead conceptual design and prototyping of aerospace mechanical systems using SolidWorks and ANSYS
- Perform FEA/CFD analysis for structural integrity and thermal performance validation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to integrate mechanical solutions with electrical and software systems
- Develop detailed manufacturing documentation including GD&T specifications and BOMs
- Mentor junior engineers while maintaining compliance with AS9100 and FAA standards
- Drive continuous improvement in design methodologies through DFX practices
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years aerospace/defense experience
- Expert proficiency in SolidWorks and simulation tools (ANSYS, Abaqus)
- Strong understanding of composite materials and additive manufacturing processes
- Certification in GD&T (ASME Y14.5) and project management (PMP preferred)
- Demonstrated success in leading from concept to certification of mechanical systems
- Experience with DO-160 environmental testing standards
- Excellent problem-solving skills for complex thermal/mechanical challenges
