Job Overview:
In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for the end-to-end mechanical engineering process, from conceptualization and prototyping to final production. You will mentor junior engineers and ensure all designs meet stringent quality and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Lead Product Design: Spearhead the mechanical design and development of complex industrial systems and consumer products.
- CAD Modeling: Utilize advanced 3D modeling software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or Inventor) to create detailed engineering drawings and specifications.
- Prototyping & Testing: Collaborate with the fabrication team to produce physical prototypes and conduct rigorous stress, fatigue, and usability testing.
- Technical Analysis: Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) simulations to validate design integrity under various operating conditions.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all designs comply with relevant industry standards, safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
- Mentorship: Guide junior engineers and interns, providing technical guidance and fostering a culture of innovation.
- Documentation: Maintain comprehensive technical documentation, including BOMs (Bill of Materials), design reports, and change orders.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or equivalent field; Master’s degree is a plus.
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of progressive experience in mechanical design and product development.
- Software Proficiency: Expert proficiency in SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar CAD platforms.
- Analysis Skills: Strong background in FEA (ANSYS, Abaqus) and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing).
- Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet tight deadlines.
- Manufacturing Knowledge: Understanding of manufacturing processes including injection molding, machining, and sheet metal fabrication.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, capable of presenting complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
