We seek a passionate Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to conceptualize, prototype, and optimize high-performance mechanical components for cutting-edge drone and satellite platforms. This hybrid role combines hands-on prototyping with advanced simulation in our state-of-the-art R&D facility.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate theoretical concepts into manufacturable solutions while adhering to ASME Y14.5 standards and aerospace safety protocols. You'll drive projects from initial CAD modeling through FEA analysis and validation testing, ensuring flawless integration with electrical and control systems.
Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end mechanical design using SolidWorks and CATIA for aerospace-grade components
- Perform finite element analysis (FEA) using ANSYS to validate structural integrity under extreme conditions
- Develop rapid prototypes via 3D printing and CNC machining for iterative testing
- Interface with suppliers to source specialized materials and precision manufacturing
- Generate comprehensive technical documentation including GD&T drawings and BOMs
- Mentor junior engineers while maintaining compliance with ISO 9001 processes
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering with 5+ years aerospace/defense experience
- Expert proficiency in SolidWorks/CATIA with advanced surfacing capabilities
- Proven FEA/CFD simulation experience using ANSYS or similar tools
- Deep understanding of composite materials and lightweight structures
- GD&T certification per ASME Y14.5-2018 standard
- Strong knowledge of thermal management systems in vacuum environments
- Experience with DO-160 environmental testing protocols preferred
