Apex Robotics & Automation is seeking a visionary Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our elite R&D team in Detroit. In this role, you will lead the design and development of next-generation robotic systems, pushing the boundaries of precision engineering and mechanical efficiency.

Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design lifecycle for high-precision robotic modules and automation equipment.
- Develop detailed 3D models and manufacturing drawings using SolidWorks or Creo.
- Conduct rigorous FEA (Finite Element Analysis) to validate structural integrity and performance under load.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical and controls engineers, to ensure system-level integration.
- Design, prototype, and test mechanical subsystems to optimize for weight, cost, and reliability.
- Manage technical documentation, including BOMs, engineering change orders (ECOs), and test reports.
- Mentor junior engineers and provide technical guidance on design standards and best practices.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 6+ years of experience in product design, specifically in robotics, automotive, or aerospace.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, Inventor, or Creo).
- Proven track record in design for manufacturing (DFM) and assembly (DFA).
- Deep understanding of materials science, kinematics, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T).
- Strong analytical skills with experience in simulation tools (Ansys or similar).
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead technical design reviews.
