Apex Robotics Systems is seeking a visionary Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our high-impact R&D team in Detroit. In this role, you will lead the end-to-end development of next-generation robotic components, pushing the boundaries of precision engineering and mechanical efficiency.
You will collaborate with cross-functional teams of software engineers and industrial designers to transform complex concepts into robust, scalable hardware solutions.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of complex robotic mechanisms and sub-assemblies.
- Utilize SolidWorks or Siemens NX for high-fidelity 3D modeling and detailed drafting.
- Perform comprehensive FEA and thermal analysis to optimize structural integrity and performance.
- Drive the selection of materials and manufacturing processes, focusing on additive manufacturing and high-precision CNC machining.
- Manage the full product lifecycle from initial conceptualization and prototyping through to mass production.
- Collaborate with international suppliers to ensure design specifications are met within strict quality tolerances.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical design, preferably in robotics, automotive, or aerospace.
- Advanced proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks, CATIA, or NX).
- Demonstrated expertise in GD&T and mechanical assembly tolerance analysis.
- Strong understanding of material science, specifically fatigue and thermal properties.
- Proven track record of taking products from concept to market-ready hardware.
- Exceptional problem-solving abilities and a collaborative mindset.
