Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end mechanical design projects from concept to production, utilizing SolidWorks and PDM tools
- Develop and optimize CAD models for high-stress aerospace components with FEA validation
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (aerodynamics, materials, manufacturing) to ensure system integration
- Conduct prototype testing, failure analysis, and design iterations using lab equipment (load cells, strain gauges)
- Generate detailed technical documentation including BOMs, GD&T drawings, and DFMEA reports
- Mentor junior engineers and drive continuous improvement in design methodologies
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of experience in mechanical design with aerospace or high-tech manufacturing
- Expert proficiency in SolidWorks and PDM, with knowledge of ANSYS or similar FEA tools
- Strong understanding of GD&T, ASME Y14.5 standards, and manufacturing processes (CNC, injection molding)
- Experience with material selection for extreme environments (temperature, pressure, vibration)
- Proven ability to manage complex projects with tight deadlines and technical constraints
- Excellent problem-solving skills with systematic approach to root cause analysis
