Are you ready to shape the future of industrial automation? Apex Robotics Systems is seeking a visionary Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our elite R&D team in Detroit. In this role, you will lead the end-to-end design lifecycle of next-generation robotic components, transforming high-level concepts into precision-engineered reality. You will work in a high-tech facility, collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to solve complex mechanical challenges.
Responsibilities
- Lead the design and development of complex mechanical assemblies from concept to mass production.
- Perform rigorous FEA and CFD simulations to optimize structural integrity and thermal performance.
- Create detailed 3D CAD models and production-ready technical drawings using SolidWorks.
- Conduct Tolerance Stack-up Analysis (GD&T) to ensure precision in manufacturing assembly.
- Mentor junior engineers and lead design reviews to uphold the highest technical standards.
- Collaborate with cross-functional manufacturing teams to optimize Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and Design for Assembly (DFA).
- Manage vendor relations and participate in material selection and prototyping processes.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical product design, ideally in robotics or automation.
- Expert-level proficiency in SolidWorks or Autodesk Inventor.
- Strong working knowledge of GD&T (ASME Y14.5) standards.
- Proven track record of taking complex products from ideation to full-scale manufacturing.
- Advanced experience with FEA tools (Ansys or Abaqus) and simulation-driven design.
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and cross-functional communication skills.
