Join the future of industrial automation at Apex Robotics Systems. We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead the conceptualization and development of next-generation robotic components.
You will work in a collaborative, high-tech facility in the heart of Detroit, pushing the boundaries of precision engineering and mechanical innovation.
Responsibilities
- Lead the mechanical design lifecycle from conceptual phase through to mass production.
- Perform advanced stress and thermal analysis using FEA software to ensure structural integrity.
- Design complex assemblies and sub-systems using SolidWorks and PDM workflows.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams including software, electrical, and manufacturing engineers.
- Oversee rapid prototyping and iterate designs based on performance testing feedback.
- Develop technical documentation, BOMs, and engineering change orders (ECOs).
- Mentor junior engineers and foster a culture of technical excellence.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 6 years of experience in product design, preferably in robotics or automotive.
- Expert-level proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks or NX).
- Demonstrated experience with GD&T and manufacturing processes (CNC, Injection Molding, Additive Manufacturing).
- Solid understanding of kinematics, dynamics, and materials selection.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to manage multiple high-priority projects.
- Excellent communication and project management abilities.
