Responsibilities
- Lead Mechanical Design & Development: Take ownership of the mechanical design process from concept through to production, utilizing CAD software to create detailed 2D and 3D models.
- Prototyping & Testing: Collaborate with the R&D team to fabricate prototypes, conduct stress tests, and iterate designs based on performance data.
- Simulation & Analysis: Perform Finite Element Analysis (FEA) and thermal simulations to validate structural integrity and optimize component performance before physical production.
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with electrical engineers, software developers, and manufacturing specialists to ensure seamless integration of mechanical systems.
- Design for Manufacturing (DFM): Review designs for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and assembly efficiency, providing critical feedback to the production team.
- Compliance & Standards: Ensure all designs adhere to relevant industry standards (ASTM, ISO, ASME) and safety regulations.
- Mentorship: Guide junior engineers and provide technical mentorship to foster a culture of excellence within the engineering department.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field (Master’s degree is a plus).
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in mechanical design within a manufacturing or engineering consulting environment.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in industry-standard CAD software such as SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or PTC Creo.
- Analysis Tools: Strong working knowledge of FEA tools (e.g., ANSYS, Abaqus) and GD&T standards.
- Material Science: Deep understanding of materials selection, including metals, composites, and polymers, and their properties under stress.
- Project Management: Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to present complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
