Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end mechanical design of critical aerospace components using SolidWorks and CATIA
- Perform finite element analysis (FEA) and computational fluid dynamics (CFD) simulations for structural validation
- Develop detailed manufacturing drawings and specifications with GD&T tolerances
- Collaborate with materials scientists to select optimal alloys and composites for extreme environments
- Conduct prototype testing, failure analysis, and design iteration cycles
- Mentor junior engineers and maintain technical documentation per AS9100 standards
- Interface with suppliers to ensure component quality and cost-effectiveness
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field (Master's preferred)
- 8+ years of experience in mechanical design for aerospace or high-performance industries
- Expert proficiency in CAD software (SolidWorks/CATIA) and simulation tools (ANSYS/ABAQUS)
- Deep understanding of materials science, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics
- Certification in GD&T and experience with AS9100 quality systems
- Strong analytical skills with ability to solve complex technical challenges
- Excellent communication skills with proven cross-functional leadership experience
- US citizenship required for government project compliance
