Apex Robotics Systems is looking for a visionary Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join our core R&D team in Detroit. You will be responsible for conceptualizing, designing, and testing next-generation robotic actuators and precision machinery that define industry standards. Responsibilities
- Lead the full product lifecycle from conceptual design through to manufacturing release.
- Utilize SolidWorks or CATIA to create complex 3D models and detailed technical drawings.
- Conduct FEA (Finite Element Analysis) to validate structural integrity and thermal performance.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical and software engineers, to integrate mechatronic systems.
- Manage rapid prototyping cycles and oversee physical testing/validation of mechanical prototypes.
- Mentor junior engineers and establish best practices for CAD documentation and design reviews.
- Optimize components for weight, cost, and manufacturability using DFM/DFA principles.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum of 5+ years of professional experience in mechanical system design.
- Expert-level proficiency in 3D CAD software (SolidWorks preferred).
- Strong knowledge of GD&T, material selection, and surface finish requirements.
- Experience with high-precision motion control components and gearboxes.
- Demonstrated ability to perform tolerance stack-up analysis.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to lead technical design presentations.
