Responsibilities
- Operational Oversight: Manage daily logistics activities, including freight planning, load scheduling, and fleet dispatching to ensure timely delivery.
- Carrier Management: Negotiate rates and contracts with third-party carriers and vendors to optimize costs and service levels.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure strict adherence to Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, FMCSA standards, and internal safety protocols.
- Team Leadership: Mentor and supervise a team of logistics coordinators and dispatchers, fostering a culture of accountability and high performance.
- Process Improvement: Analyze shipping data and operational bottlenecks to implement process improvements and reduce transit times.
- Client Relations: Serve as the primary point of contact for key accounts, addressing concerns and ensuring 100% customer satisfaction.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field is required.
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in transportation logistics, supply chain management, or freight forwarding.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in Transportation Management Systems (TMS) such as Oracle Transportation Management or SAP TM.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, and hazardous materials handling (if applicable).
- Leadership: Proven track record of leading cross-functional teams and managing budgets effectively.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to negotiate with vendors and clients.
