Responsibilities
- Conceptualize, pitch, and execute long-form investigative reports on topics of local and national importance.
- Cultivate and maintain a robust network of confidential sources, whistleblowers, and industry insiders.
- Utilize public records, FOIA requests, and advanced data analysis to uncover hidden truths and verify facts.
- Collaborate with multimedia, legal, and editorial teams to ensure stories are airtight and legally sound.
- Adapt investigative content for various platforms, including digital, print, podcasts, and video documentaries.
- Mentor junior reporters on investigative techniques, source protection, and ethical reporting standards.
- Maintain the highest standards of journalistic integrity and adhere strictly to Vanguard Media's editorial guidelines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Journalism, Communications, Political Science, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in investigative reporting, preferably within a fast-paced digital or print newsroom.
- Demonstrated portfolio of high-impact investigative pieces that showcase exceptional writing and analytical skills.
- Deep understanding of media law, FOIA processes, and source protection protocols.
- Proficiency in data journalism tools and advanced online research techniques.
