In this role, you will have the autonomy to pursue deep-dive projects, leverage data-driven insights, and collaborate with our multimedia production squad to bring complex narratives to life across digital, print, and video platforms.
Responsibilities
- Lead investigative projects from concept to final publication with a focus on public interest.
- Develop and maintain a robust network of high-level sources across government, corporate, and private sectors.
- Conduct thorough fact-checking, legal reviews, and ethical scrutiny on all assigned pieces.
- Synthesize large datasets into compelling, accessible narratives for a diverse digital audience.
- Collaborate with videographers and motion designers to produce cross-platform digital assets.
- Mentor junior reporters and assist in refining editorial standards and investigative techniques.
- Represent the organization at press briefings, panels, and public speaking engagements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 6+ years of professional experience in investigative journalism at a reputable outlet.
- Proven track record of high-impact reporting that has influenced policy or public debate.
- Advanced proficiency in public record requests, FOIA filing, and open-source intelligence (OSINT) tools.
- Strong editorial judgment and the ability to work under tight deadlines in a fast-paced newsroom.
- Demonstrated experience in multimedia storytelling and digital-first content strategies.
- Impeccable ethical standards and mastery of AP style and libel law.
