Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive risk assessments and underwriting analyses for commercial and personal lines of insurance.
- Review and evaluate policy applications, endorsements, and endorsements to ensure accuracy and compliance.
- Collaborate closely with sales agents and brokers to provide expert guidance and support during the quoting process.
- Monitor industry trends, regulatory changes, and emerging risks to adjust underwriting strategies accordingly.
- Maintain and grow a profitable book of business within assigned territories or verticals.
- Develop and refine underwriting guidelines and pricing models to support company objectives.
- Train and mentor junior underwriters to ensure consistency in risk selection and decision-making.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, Risk Management, or a related field.
- 5+ years of progressive experience in commercial or property & casualty underwriting.
- Professional designations such as CPCU, ARM, or AAI are highly preferred.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data sets and financial reports.
- Deep understanding of state insurance regulations, laws, and compliance requirements.
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and persuade effectively.
- Proficiency in underwriting software and Microsoft Office Suite.
