Responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end underwriting processes for high-value commercial and personal insurance portfolios
- Analyze complex risk factors, financial statements, and market trends to determine policy terms and premiums
- Develop and implement underwriting guidelines that align with regulatory requirements and business objectives
- Collaborate with brokers, agents, and internal teams to design customized insurance solutions
- Mentor junior underwriters and conduct regular performance reviews
- Leverage data analytics tools to identify emerging risks and opportunities
- Represent the company at industry conferences and client negotiations
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field (advanced degree preferred)
- 8+ years of progressive underwriting experience with commercial lines expertise
- Proven track record in risk assessment, financial analysis, and policy structuring
- Strong knowledge of insurance regulations (NYDFS, NAIC) and industry standards
- Advanced proficiency in underwriting software (e.g., Duck Creek, Sapiens)
- Relevant professional certifications (CPCU, ARM, or AU)
- Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and communication skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment
