Responsibilities
- Analyze complex insurance applications to assess risk exposure and determine coverage terms
- Develop strategic underwriting policies that balance risk mitigation with growth opportunities
- Leverage predictive modeling tools to evaluate emerging risks and market trends
- Collaborate with brokers and clients to design bespoke insurance solutions
- Maintain compliance with NY State insurance regulations and industry best practices
- Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to departmental innovation initiatives
- Present risk assessments to senior leadership for final approval decisions
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, or related field
- 5+ years of commercial underwriting experience with property/casualty focus
- Professional designation (CPCU, ARM, or AU) strongly preferred
- Advanced proficiency in underwriting software and data analytics platforms
- Deep understanding of insurance regulations and risk assessment methodologies
- Exceptional negotiation skills with ability to articulate complex risk concepts
- Experience managing high-value portfolios ($50M+ premium volume)
