Responsibilities
- Analyze complex commercial and specialty insurance applications to assess risk exposure accurately
- Develop and execute underwriting strategies aligned with company risk appetite and market trends
- Build and maintain relationships with brokers, agents, and key stakeholders
- Review and negotiate policy terms, conditions, and premium structures
- Lead cross-functional projects to enhance underwriting processes and technology
- Maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices
- Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to team development initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Risk Management, or related field (MBA preferred)
- 5+ years of commercial underwriting experience with P&C or specialty lines
- ACII, CPCU, or equivalent professional designation required
- Advanced proficiency in underwriting software (Guidewire, Duck Creek)
- Expert knowledge of insurance regulations (NYDFS, NAIC standards)
- Exceptional analytical and quantitative decision-making skills
- Strong communication abilities with diverse stakeholders
- Experience leading underwriting teams or mentoring professionals
