Responsibilities
- Evaluate complex commercial insurance applications using advanced risk assessment methodologies
- Develop and maintain profitable underwriting strategies for mid-market portfolios
- Lead negotiations with brokers and clients to structure optimal coverage terms
- Analyze emerging market trends and regulatory impacts to inform portfolio adjustments
- Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to underwriting policy refinement
- Collaborate with claims department to ensure alignment between underwriting and loss experience
- Utilize predictive analytics tools to enhance risk selection and pricing accuracy
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of commercial underwriting experience with property/casualty expertise
- Professional designation (CPCU, ARM, or AU) required
- Advanced proficiency in underwriting software (e.g., Duck Creek, Guidewire)
- Demonstrated success in managing large commercial portfolios ($50M+)
- Strong knowledge of NY insurance regulations and market dynamics
- Exceptional analytical, negotiation, and client communication skills
- Experience with ESG risk assessment methodologies
