Responsibilities
- Analyze complex commercial property and casualty risks to determine appropriate coverage and premiums
- Lead underwriting decisions for portfolios exceeding $50M in annual premium volume
- Develop innovative risk assessment models using emerging data analytics tools
- Maintain profitable relationships with key broker partners and major accounts
- Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to departmental training initiatives
- Stay current on regulatory changes and emerging industry trends
- Collaborate with actuarial and claims teams to refine risk selection criteria
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, or related field
- 7+ years of commercial insurance underwriting experience
- CPCU or ARM designation strongly preferred
- Expertise in property and casualty risk assessment methodologies
- Advanced proficiency in insurance rating platforms (e.g., Duck Creek, Guidewire)
- Demonstrated success in profitable portfolio management
- Strong negotiation skills with broker relationships
- Ability to interpret complex financial statements and loss runs
