Responsibilities
- Analyze and evaluate insurance applications to determine risk exposure and appropriate premium pricing.
- Apply established underwriting guidelines to approve, decline, or refer complex risks.
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and agents to ensure a robust pipeline of business.
- Monitor market trends and loss ratios to adjust underwriting strategies accordingly.
- Ensure all underwriting decisions comply with state and federal regulations.
- Train and mentor junior underwriters to uphold company standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, or a related field (Master’s preferred).
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in commercial or property insurance underwriting.
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret data and assess risk metrics accurately.
- Proficiency in underwriting software systems (e.g., Duck Creek, Guidewire, or Sapiens).
- Relevant professional certification (e.g., CPCU, AU, ARM) is highly preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
