Responsibilities
- Assess complex commercial risks and evaluate insurance applications for property/casualty portfolios
- Develop underwriting strategies that balance risk exposure with profitable growth targets
- Build and maintain strong broker relationships through strategic negotiation and consultative selling
- Lead cross-functional teams in implementing innovative risk mitigation solutions
- Mentor junior underwriters while maintaining compliance with regulatory standards
- Utilize advanced analytics tools to identify emerging trends and market opportunities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field; CPCU designation preferred
- 7+ years of commercial underwriting experience with specialization in property/casualty
- Proven track record in risk assessment and portfolio management
- Expert knowledge of insurance regulations (NY DFS requirements) and industry best practices
- Advanced proficiency in underwriting software (Guidewire, Duck Creek)
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial data
- Exceptional negotiation and stakeholder management abilities
