Responsibilities
- Evaluate complex commercial insurance applications using quantitative and qualitative risk assessment methodologies
- Design and implement tailored insurance policies that balance risk exposure with client needs
- Lead negotiations with brokers and clients to finalize coverage terms and premium structures
- Analyze market trends and loss data to inform underwriting strategy and product innovation
- Maintain compliance with NY State Department of Financial Services regulations
- Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to team training initiatives
- Collaborate with actuarial teams to refine pricing models and risk parameters
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field; advanced degree preferred
- 5+ years of commercial insurance underwriting experience with property/casualty focus
- Proven expertise in risk assessment frameworks and insurance regulations
- Strong analytical skills with proficiency in underwriting software (e.g., Duck Creek, Guidewire)
- CEFP, AU, or CPCU certification required
- Exceptional negotiation and communication abilities
- Experience managing high-value portfolios ($5M+ premium volume)
