Responsibilities
- Lead comprehensive risk assessment and underwriting decisions for complex commercial and personal insurance products
- Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines while ensuring compliance with state/federal regulations
- Analyze financial data, loss histories, and market trends to determine appropriate coverage terms
- Collaborate with brokers, agents, and internal teams to design tailored insurance solutions
- Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to departmental process improvements
- Monitor emerging risks and regulatory changes to update underwriting strategies
- Present underwriting recommendations to senior management with clear rationale
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field (Master's preferred)
- 5+ years of progressive underwriting experience with commercial lines
- Professional designation (CPCU, AU, or ARM) strongly preferred
- Advanced proficiency in underwriting software and data analysis tools
- Demonstrated expertise in risk evaluation and pricing methodologies
- Exceptional analytical skills with attention to regulatory compliance
- Strong communication abilities for client and stakeholder interactions
- Proven track record of portfolio growth and loss ratio optimization
