Responsibilities
- Evaluate commercial insurance applications and assess risk exposure using actuarial data and industry benchmarks
- Develop and negotiate policy terms, premiums, and coverage structures for high-value accounts
- Collaborate with brokers and clients to address risk mitigation strategies and coverage gaps
- Analyze market trends and regulatory changes to inform underwriting decisions
- Maintain accurate risk portfolios and documentation in compliance with state/federal regulations
- Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to process optimization initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- 5+ years of commercial property/casualty underwriting experience
- ACII, CPCU, or ARM professional certification preferred
- Expertise in risk assessment tools (e.g., Duck Creek, Guidewire)
- Strong analytical skills with ability to interpret complex financial data
- Excellent negotiation and client relationship management abilities
- Knowledge of NY insurance regulations and compliance requirements
