Responsibilities
- Analyze complex insurance applications using quantitative modeling and qualitative risk assessment techniques
- Develop tailored coverage solutions for high-value commercial and personal insurance products
- Collaborate with actuaries, brokers, and claims specialists to optimize risk selection
- Maintain compliance with state insurance regulations and industry best practices
- Lead underwriting strategy for emerging risk categories including cyber liability and climate-related exposures
- Mentor junior underwriters and contribute to continuous process improvement initiatives
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Actuarial Science, or related field (MBA preferred)
- 7+ years of progressive underwriting experience with commercial lines expertise
- Professional designation (CPCU, AU, or ARM) strongly preferred
- Advanced proficiency in underwriting platforms (Guidewire, Duck Creek) and data analytics tools
- Demonstrated success in developing profitable underwriting strategies
- Exceptional analytical skills with ability to synthesize complex information
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder management abilities
