Responsibilities
- Analyze commercial insurance applications and financial statements to assess risk exposure
- Design customized coverage solutions for mid-market businesses across diverse industries
- Underwrite policies up to $10M with authority to negotiate terms and conditions
- Mentor junior underwriters and lead cross-functional risk assessment teams
- Stay current with regulatory changes and industry best practices
- Collaborate with brokers to develop strategic partnerships and market share growth
- Implement underwriting guidelines while maintaining profitability targets
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field (MBA preferred)
- 7+ years commercial underwriting experience with property/casualty focus
- Strong analytical skills with proven risk assessment methodologies
- CPCU or ARM designation required, with progress toward ARe
- Expertise in SIC code analysis and industry-specific risk evaluation
- Proficient in insurance software (Guidewire, Duck Creek) and data analytics tools
- Excellent communication skills with ability to present complex concepts clearly
- Track record of exceeding profitability targets while maintaining client relationships
