Responsibilities
- Analyze complex commercial insurance applications using advanced risk assessment methodologies
- Develop and execute underwriting strategies for high-value portfolios ($50M+)
- Collaborate with brokers and clients to design bespoke risk management solutions
- Maintain compliance with NY state regulations and industry best practices
- Mentor underwriting associates and lead cross-functional risk review teams
- Leverage predictive analytics to optimize pricing models and loss ratios
- Drive innovation in emerging risk categories (cyber, climate, ESG)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, or related field (CPCU designation preferred)
- 7+ years of commercial underwriting experience with P&L responsibility
- Expertise in property/casualty and specialty lines insurance
- Advanced proficiency in underwriting platforms (Guidewire, Duck Creek)
- Strong analytical skills with data-driven decision-making abilities
- Proven track record in portfolio optimization and loss ratio improvement
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- NY state Property & Casualty license (required)
