Responsibilities
- Analyze complex commercial insurance applications using advanced risk assessment methodologies
- Design and price customized insurance policies balancing risk exposure and profitability
- Lead underwriting committees and mentor junior underwriters on best practices
- Develop and maintain strong relationships with brokers and key industry stakeholders
- Implement data-driven underwriting strategies using predictive analytics tools
- Ensure compliance with state regulations and industry standards (NAIC, ISO)
- Identify emerging risks and propose innovative coverage solutions
- Contribute to product development initiatives for specialized insurance products
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Risk Management, Business, or related field
- 5+ years of commercial underwriting experience with property/casualty focus
- CPCU, ARM, or CIC designation strongly preferred
- Expertise in risk assessment frameworks and underwriting analytics
- Proven track record of profitable underwriting portfolio management
- Advanced knowledge of Illinois insurance regulations and market dynamics
- Exceptional negotiation skills and stakeholder management abilities
- Proficiency in underwriting software (e.g., Duck Creek, Guidewire)
