Responsibilities
- Analyze commercial insurance applications and financial statements to assess risk exposure
- Develop and price insurance policies using actuarial data and market trends
- Build relationships with brokers and negotiate policy terms
- Manage renewal cycles and claims mitigation strategies
- Maintain compliance with NY insurance regulations and industry standards
- Mentor junior underwriters and review complex case files
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, or related field
- 5+ years of commercial underwriting experience
- CPCU or AU designation strongly preferred
- Expertise in property/casualty insurance products
- Advanced proficiency in underwriting software (e.g., Duck Creek, Guidewire)
- Strong analytical and negotiation skills
- NY State Insurance License (or ability to obtain within 90 days)
