Responsibilities
- Product Development: Lead the end-to-end formulation of new food products, ensuring taste, texture, and nutritional quality meet market demands.
- Innovation Strategy: Research emerging ingredients and processing technologies to stay ahead of culinary trends and sustainability goals.
- Sensory Analysis: Design and execute sensory evaluation panels to gather consumer insights and iterate on product concepts.
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all products adhere to FDA, USDA, and other relevant food safety regulations and labeling requirements.
- Process Optimization: Collaborate with production teams to scale up lab-scale formulations to commercial manufacturing levels.
- Team Leadership: Mentor junior technologists and foster a culture of scientific excellence and creativity within the R&D department.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Food Science, Food Technology, Food Engineering, or a related scientific discipline.
- Experience: Minimum of 5+ years of experience in product development, preferably within the food or beverage industry (plant-based, dairy alternatives, or clean label a plus).
- Technical Skills: Proficiency in HACCP, GMP, and food safety protocols. Strong understanding of food chemistry and rheology.
- Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to present technical data to non-technical stakeholders.
- Problem Solving: Strong analytical skills with a proven track record of troubleshooting formulation challenges.
