Responsibilities
- Oversee Fleet Management: Direct the daily operations of a fleet of 50+ vehicles, ensuring timely deliveries and optimal route planning.
- Cost Control & Budgeting: Manage fleet budgets, monitor fuel consumption, and implement cost-reduction strategies to improve profitability.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure strict adherence to DOT regulations, FMCSA guidelines, and internal safety protocols; conduct regular safety audits.
- Team Leadership: Lead, mentor, and motivate a team of dispatchers, drivers, and mechanics to foster a culture of accountability and high performance.
- Data Analysis: Analyze telematics data and operational metrics to identify trends, reduce downtime, and optimize fleet performance.
- Vendor Management: Negotiate contracts with third-party carriers and service providers, including maintenance shops and insurance carriers.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in fleet management or logistics operations.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, and HOS (Hours of Service) rules.
- Technical Proficiency: Advanced proficiency in fleet management software (e.g., Samsara, Oracle, Fleetio) and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with drivers, stakeholders, and management.
- Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills with the ability to troubleshoot complex operational issues under pressure.
- Leadership: Proven track record of leading diverse teams and driving operational improvements.
