Responsibilities
- Strategic Fleet Oversight: Develop and implement comprehensive fleet management strategies to maximize asset utilization and minimize unplanned downtime.
- Cost Control & Budgeting: Manage the fleet budget, including fuel, maintenance, repairs, and insurance, negotiating with vendors to secure the best rates.
- Driver Management: Supervise a team of drivers and dispatchers, conducting performance reviews, enforcing safety protocols, and fostering a culture of accountability.
- Compliance & Safety: Ensure strict adherence to DOT regulations, OSHA standards, and internal safety policies through regular audits and training sessions.
- Performance Analytics: Analyze telematics data and operational reports to identify trends, optimize routes, and forecast maintenance needs.
- Vendor Relations: Manage relationships with third-party maintenance providers and leasing companies to ensure quality service delivery.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years of progressive experience in fleet management or logistics operations, preferably within a medium-to-large organization.
- Technical Proficiency: Strong command of fleet management software (e.g., SAP, Oracle, FleetBoard) and telematics systems.
- Analytical Skills: Excellent ability to interpret complex data sets to make data-driven decisions regarding fleet health and operational efficiency.
- Communication: Superior verbal and written communication skills with the ability to present reports to executive leadership effectively.
- Regulatory Knowledge: In-depth knowledge of FMCSA regulations, DOT compliance, and safety inspection procedures.
- Problem Solving: Proven ability to troubleshoot complex operational issues and implement effective solutions under pressure.
